South Carolina 5 Day Notice to Pay or Quit

The South Carolina five (5) day notice to pay or quit is an eviction letter informing a tenant that they must pay the rent or vacate within five (5) days. The landlord shall specify the total amount owed in the notice to pay or quit and serve it to the tenant. After the document has been delivered, the tenant will need to either pay the described amount or vacate the rental unit within five (5) days. A tenant who fails to adhere to the terms within the notice period shall have their tenancy terminated. The landlord may then file for an eviction order by submitting an Ejectment action (a.k.a. eviction lawsuit) with the magistrate court.
