The Illinois thirty (30) day notice to quit can be used by a tenant or landlord to terminate a month-to-month lease agreement. If a landlord elects to terminate a tenant’s occupancy, the notice must be served to the individual with thirty (30) days’ notice provided; the final date of the notice period should be the last day of the lease. Likewise, a lessee may end their tenancy by delivering the form to their landlord and waiting thirty (30) days before moving out, unless the lease agreement specifies a more extended notice period.
