The North Carolina two (2) day notice to quit is a legal document which is served on week-to-week tenants to inform them of their landlord’s intention to terminate their rental agreement. The notice gives the tenant two (2) days to either vacate the rental unit or face an eviction lawsuit. The landlord doesn’t need to give any reason for terminating a weekly tenancy. However, they cannot terminate a week-to-week tenancy in retaliation to the tenant or for discriminatory reasons.
