The Iowa thirty (30) day notice to quit is used to announce the termination of a month-to-month rental agreement. The landlord shall provide the letter to the tenant at least thirty (30) days before the subsequent date rent is due. If the notice period elapses and the tenant has yet to vacate the premises, the landlord may seek an eviction order by filing a Forcible Entry and Detainer action with the circuit court. This month-to-month notice to quit may also be used by the tenant to inform the landlord of their intentions to move out.
