The Wisconsin five (5) day notice to cure or quit can be used by landlords serving tenants with leases of less than one (1) year notifying them of a failure to pay rent or of a violation of their lease agreement. The tenant can halt the eviction by either paying the past due rent or curing the violation, i.e., repairing damages, taking reasonable steps to stop the violation. If the tenant does not cure the violation within the five (5) day period, they must vacate the premises. Failure to comply with the terms of this eviction notice will result in an eviction suit carried out by the landlord.
