The North Carolina ten (10) day notice to pay or quit is used to inform a tenant that they have ten (10) days to either pay the past due rent amount or vacate the rental unit. If the tenant does not take any action within the ten (10) day period, the landlord can file an eviction suit against them in court. This notice must be written and then served to the tenant, it cannot be given verbally.
